Standard Chartered Bank economist Fauzi Ichsan has predicted a stronger Rupiah as the next governmental regime takes office later this year. "There will be a new confidence in the Rupiah by October, reaching Rp 11,400 per US Dollar," said Ichsan. He also said that the balance deficit in the second semester will decrease and the market will be able to address issues caused by the tapering off policy implemented by the US Federal Bank. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2014, Ichsan estimated that Rupiah would reach Rp 12,400 per dollar. However, if the Indonesian market fails to respond positively, Rupiah is unlikely to breach the green zone.
